Welcome!
Our eight players have all been transported by bus to a monastery in the mountains, and given monk garb to wear. This place of peace, tranquility, and meditation is our locale for this round. Isn't the view breathtaking?
Well, for some of you it may be the last breath you take! We invite you to play... Poisoned Chalice!
You will each be given ¥120M for this round... however, we will only reclaim ¥100M at the end of the game. That means you've just received a ¥20M bonus! That's our gift to you for making it this far. Congratulations! But can you keep hold of it? Listen well to the rules.
Scenario
You are all monks within a monastery in the Middle Ages. It is a time where religion and politics are one and the same. As monks, you all live from communal resources, so all of your ¥120M have been placed in a pot, meaning the monastery has a grand total of ¥960M!
A ritual requires all monks to swap goblets of water and drink them... but there is poison missing from the apothecary! How many of these chalices are safe to drink?
Object
To drink a clean chalice.
Part I: The Chalice
All monks are each given a chalice. They each decide whether their chalice will be filled with Water or Poison. PM your Dealer with this decision.
All chalices are to be swapped among members. The eight of you are seated in a Sacred Circle, in which you pass chalices clockwise (North would pass to Northeast, who would pass to East, etc). Message your Dealer with the seat you wish to take; you may send this in the same PM as your Water/Poison decision. Furthermore, you will declare which seat you wish to take for the ritual; state this in the relevant thread. You MUST post your choice both privately to the Dealer and in the seating thread for the selection to be valid! At the end of the the 24 hour period, the Sacred Circle seating arrangments will be announced. In the event of invalid selections, the Dealer will resolve the conflict based on the following prioritized list:
"Invalid" selections are ones that are not permitted. These will be explained as we progress, and recapped in Part IV. If at any point progressing through this list, only one possible seating resolution remains for all players, that is the arrangement all players will take (regardless of any requests still outstanding).
All players only have one chalice.
Because all chalices go clockwise round the Circle, you may NOT swap chalices with another player. Therefore, if X passes a chalice to you, you cannot pass yours to X, but you can pass yours to Y. Swapping with another player is an invalid move.
If you pass without deciding Water/Poison to your Dealer, it will automatically be Water.
Once all of the chalices have been exchanged, there will be 48 hours of Strategy Time. When Strategy Time begins, players will be told if there are more poisoned chalices than safe ones, or vice versa (but never how many).
Part II: The Apothecary
During the first 24 hours of Strategy Time, you may visit the Apothecary. It's a quiet little place, not very big.
Here, you can have your chalice tested... at the cost of ¥30M from the monastery. PM your Dealer asking them for use of the Apothecary.
Upon payment, there are two things you may do to your chalice: TEST or INVERT.
You are only allowed to perform one test on a goblet per round, as pairing or doubling doses is lethal.
Part III: To Drink or Not to Drink
At any point during the 48 hours of strategy time, players must PM their dealer with their choice: DRINK or EMPTY.
If a clear majority of players choose Drink, the ritual is underway: all chalices are drunk regardless of whether or not you chose to Drink. Those who drank the Poison die and lose; those who drank the Water survive. The game ends here.
Otherwise, a clear majority of players (or a tied amount) choose Empty. All chalices are emptied of their contents and the game starts afresh... except 2 external votes for Drink will be added to the votes for each subsequent round. By request of God. So don't delay the inevitable.
You may not perform an exchange with the same player two rounds in a row. Therefore, if you received X's chalice and gave your chalice to Y this past round, you may NOT chalices from either X or Y on this next round. Put simply, if you sat next to a player last round, choosing a seat next to them again in the impending one is an invalid seating choice.
All players must decide on their new seating arrangements among themselves. You are given 24 hours to debate and decide your new positions. In the event of invalid selections, some players may have to be auto-arranged due to conflicts, particularly the ones near the end of the line. These will be announced by the dealer, whose decision will be final. Think of it as divine intervention to resolve the bickering of humble monks.
In this new 24 hour seating span, each player must also decide whether or not to poison the chalice they are passing on. PM the Dealer with your decision. When the subsequent 48-hour Strategy Time begins, players will only hear if the amount of poisoned chalices has increased, decreased, or remained the same compared to the previous round.
Part IV: Summary
Endgame
Once DRINK happens, whoever drinks from a Poisoned chalice dies and loses the game. The surviving monks split the monastery pot equally.

Inactivity
Go the way of God, and good luck.

In the event of invalid selections, the Dealer will resolve the conflict based on the following prioritized list:
- All confirmed valid seatings will be locked and approved at the end of the 24 hours.
- If your PM and declaration, though matching, are invalid (such as choosing the same seat as someone else), then you will take the next valid seat clockwise.
- If your PM and declaration do not match, your public announcement will stand (this is what your fellow monks heard). If this is invalid, you will take the next available position clockwise.
- If you ONLY sent a PM or posted publicly, you will sit in the first clockwisely-available chair. Neither PM nor public post is more prioritized than the other (though the requests posted earliest will get preference where suitable).
- If you did nothing, you are bottom of the priority pile, and will be seated wherever is left over.
"Invalid" selections are ones that are not permitted. These will be explained as we progress, and recapped in Part IV. - INVERT : Change your chalice's contents (Water becomes Poison, Poison becomes Water). The end result is revealed to you.
You are only allowed to perform one test on a goblet per round, as pairing or doubling doses is lethal.

Part IV: Summary
- All players have 24 hours to decide whether to pass on a chalice filled with Poison or Water. You message the Dealer with this information.
- In the same time period, choose your seat by announcing it in the thread AND by PMing the Dealer. Both must be done to confirm the seat.
- You may not sit next to the same person twice in a row. Doing so is an illegal seating arrangement. The seating thread is locked after 24 hours.
- The Dealer will resolve any incorrect seating selections based on the above priority list. If invalid, you will be seated in the first available valid chair clockwise.
- Players the have 48 hours of strategy time, including 24 hours to visit the Apothecary should they wish to. You may pay the Apothecary to TEST your chalice's contents OR INVERT them (not both). Either test costs thirty million yen from the monastery's funds.
- In this 48 hours, choose whether you wish to DRINK or EMPTY your chalice.
- If the votes for DRINK are not in a clear majority, all players empty their chalices. The game resets, but you cannot sit next to a player you were adjacent to in the previous round. Furthermore, two external votes for DRINK are added to the vote count.
- If the votes for DRINK form a clear majority, all players must drink.
Endgame
Once DRINK happens, whoever drinks from a Poisoned chalice dies and loses the game. The surviving monks split the monastery pot equally.
Miscellaneous
- You are not allowed to take money from the monastery for any reason other than the Apothecary. Doing so is a crime against God.
- You are not allowed to transfer yen to an opponent's Account... because you're all monks.
- Contracts are forbidden. You've already taken your vows, haven't you?
- Chalices will stay with you at all times, except for when you pass them clockwise. You are prohibited from swapping chalices or tampering with their contents in any manner.
Inactivity
- If you do not decide Water or Poison, you automatically choose Water.
- If you do not vote Drink or Empty, you automatically choose Empty.
- If you do not post to pass your chalice, you will be auto-arranged based on the situation. Randomization may occur if the results work in several combinations.
- If you are deemed inactive, you may be removed from the Tournament regardless of whether you won the Revival Round or not. So don't be.
Go the way of God, and good luck.
