Which of the 10 opening catalogues would you want?

As there are no pairs, people will be seeking to gain multiple hands. However, if we're looking at a single hand, the best ones (at first glance) are Lot B (only need a 2 for a straight) and Lot J (only need a 5 for a straight) with J being slightly better as it has an extra card. I'll have to look at this later to figure out what the best combination of two hands is, and there's obviously better hands when you buy more lots. Undoubtedly, the best hand would be all lots. ...though that would never happen...

Oh, Harimoto, you so silly! I am so UPSET he tried to pull a stunt as flimsy and see-through as THAT, and that everyone went "WHAAAA?" like it was a possible explanation. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE

I figured the "WHAAAA?" was along the lines of "What? Someone would try such a flimsy and see-through explanation?"

Akiyama is such a magnificent troll. Hopefully this waves goodbye to the status quo. ;D
Open question: if you were Shortbob and in this situation, what would you have done/aim to do?

I wouldn't have bid anything and claimed someone else's spirit blocked my bid, heavily implying it was Akiyama's. Then separate him from the rest of the group.
In the ensuing chaos, I get my tablet back from Mikamoto/Office Lady. Then make the claim that I need a lot and it's not fair that I was sabotaged.
But then Akiyama is placing a bid. So. That would ruin everything too.

There are two problems with that.
1) Akiyama was only able to seperate Harimoto from the tablets because Harimoto had removed himself from his own tablet. Akiyama can claim that he doesn't want to give his tablet to any other player. At that point, the other players cannot force him to do anything.
2) If the girls state that he should have no problem handing his tablet to Nao, then he can ask if they would be willing to hand their tablets to Abe. Of the cultists, Abe is the least likely to have a powerful spirit (as she is only the 500-year-old-one, the youngest of the lot), and if a DD like Akiyama can have a powerful one, then surely any of the cultists would be more likely to have one. So, he can turn that move around on them and suggest that they should all leave their tablets with Abe and sit out as well. Congrats. You've left Abe with all of them.
A more reasonable thing to try to do would be to "accidentally" fall over and knock into Mikamoto/OL. Have all three tablets fall to the floor. Assuming all of them have their names on them, or can be made to display their names, she can pick up her tablet and say "Yep, this one is mine. Got my name on it and everything. See?" Akiyama can't do anything about that.

Regarding the current chapter, what I suspect will happen in the final few seconds is the mooks will panic and start over-voting Akiyama's bid, essentially to secure themselves *a* lot, rather than leaving Akiyama with 10 cards and two pigs out of the non members of the (alleged) Harimoto-Akiyama alliance. Of course, Akiyama taking 2 hands/10 cards is great for him, but totally undermines everything Nao is trying to push forth, and I don't think that's the nature of their relationship, even if they are currently (for all intents and purposes) acting independently from one another. I don't think he'd tread on her toes like that. Wouldn't it be funny if his bid was actually for 1 coin, just to troll with them all and mess with their heads?

I think Nao would prefer that Akiyama gets 2 hands/10 cards over Harimoto getting it.
